Taxis and private hire vehicles are an essential (and sometimes overlooked) part of the public transport mix in the delivery of statutory services by local authorities (education and social care) and healthcare authorities (patient transport), as well as serving the more bespoke needs of the general public. For many rural residents, taxis might be the only form of public transport available.

We undertake taxi unmet-demand studies and recently reviewed the entire licensing framework for taxi services on Jersey. UK taxi and private hire licensing is a district council responsibility and standards and practices vary considerably across the country.
