Demand Responsive Transport
The concept of ‘demand responsive transport’ (DRT) has been around since the days of Victorian horse-drawn hansom cabs. Today, with the introduction of travel planning and booking apps, it is becoming an expectation that transport will be available on demand and this is a challenge for transport operators, planners and commissioners.
We have been involved in DRT services for the last thirty years, including commercial bus; commissioned taxis; community transport (including s22 and s19 community buses); car schemes; dial-a-rides and taxi-share but excluding hansom cabs. We provide advice and guidance on achieving and measuring value for money: service specifications, performance and management; operational models; data collection and analysis; legal advice and issue resolution; commissioning and procurement processes; health & safety audits and accessibility standards and the role that DRT can play in complementing conventional transport services.
Our strength is a focus on action, we always take responsibility for implementing our advice.
