National & Local Transport Policy
National Transport Policy is the bedrock upon which all transport provision sits. As such, it is important that policy and its accompanying legislation makes compliance as simple as possible, that unexpected consequences are minimised and that the organisations delivering the outcomes of the policy are unhindered and allowed to innovate. We advise and support central government on matters as diverse as model bus service contracts, bus partnerships, ticketing schemes and competition compliance.
At a local level, local authorities have significant leeway in how they deliver transport services and some go beyond standards laid down nationally. We work with many of them to fully understand the detail of regulations and the implications, particularly financially, of diverging from central policy, to deliver their desired transport policies within the current legal framework.
