Supervisor Training
The first level of training – Level 3 Certificate in Road Passenger First Line Management – is aimed at developing drivers and technicians to become supervisors and junior leaders, and was launched in 2015.
The course has been designed and is being delivered by Andrew Guest of TAS who has some 45 years’ experience in operations, planning, and commercial and senior management in public transport.
Depot & Middle Managers Training
The new, follow-on Level 5 Certificate in Road Passenger Transport Management provides the opportunity for depot managers or supervisor/junior leaders aspiring to be depot managers to illustrate and take their knowledge and abilities to the next level.
Modules will cover managing services and customer standards, people, finance, and managing a depot’s resources – culminating in exams and assignments.
Senior Manager & Director Training
The manager course forms stepping stone to the third-tier certificate for senior managers and directors, which is currently in the pipeline and to be launched next year.
“At the heart of the suite of industry-specific qualifications lie staff development, fostering a new generation of managers and future-proofing skills and knowledge – for the bus and coach sector,” said Andrew.
TAS also a range of courses for junior managers, shop stewards and newcomers to the industry.
New entrants to the Industry
This three day course is aimed at those with little or no previous understanding of the industry. It will give delegates:
- a comprehensive acquaintance with industry history
- the shape of the ownership
- operating requirements
- legal framework
The course is designed to supplement other company-specific induction training that delegates may receive. We have successfully gained accreditation from CILT for all our courses, and are always happy to work with clients to develop packages which meet specific needs.
Junior Managers
A specific one day course on disciplinary and grievance procedures is available. We have successfully gained accreditation from CILT for all our courses, and are always happy to work with clients to develop packages which meet specific needs.
Travel Training
Working with long-standing partners, TAS is able to deliver a customised travel-training programme designed to meet the needs of individuals within their local transport context.
In addition to our ability to analyse all aspects of passenger transport, the TAS Partnership has the capability to deliver other types of training and assistance in related areas of work. These capabilities have been developed in response to clients’ needs, and are entirely consistent with our ethos of being able to deliver hands-on practical support, where this is required.
One example of this enhanced capability is in the area of travel training. TAS has frequently carried out reviews of home-to-school transport, including for children with special educational needs (SEN), and has also carried out reviews of transport for adult day care clients.
Shop Stewards
This one day course is designed to give shop stewards an understanding of:
- the economics of bus operation
- the budget process
- the make up of costs, including how changes in circumstances, like pay increases, will affect costs and the budget
- how profit is distributed.
Presented independently of the company management, the course objective is to provide shop stewards with an independent, realistic view of bus company finances.
